CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

Mr. Goh Ceah Chuang, Chief Operating Officer of Putrajaya Perdana Berhad (PPB) handing over the cheque and books to a teacher from SJK (T) West Country Barat.

When representatives from PPB drove through a vast waste land with unpaved road in the outskirts of Kajang, they never expected that the primary school which they intended to sponsor could be located in such an isolated area.

As the school is only attended by merely 80 students, SJK (T) West Country Barat is categorised as “Sekolah Kurang Murid” and thus, expected to be self-sufficient. However, as most of the students were from single-parent families with very low household income, the school has to shoulder the task to stay afloat by scouting for donations from the public and temples.

Having learnt of their plight, PPB came forward to sponsor workbooks for students in Standard 4, 5 and 6’s extra classes and also their lunches before the extra classes for the entire 2012.

On 12 April 2012, PPB donated 6 units of used computers to the school to begin their very own computer classes and create awareness among the Standard 1 and 2 students on the functionality of a personal computer.

We wish the students happy learning and a bright future ahead!
